“that looks boring”

I was digging through some of my books a few nights ago when I ran across The Autobiography of George Muller. I thought it might be a good book to read to the kids, so I took it upstairs with me when I put them to bed. My eight-year old son took one look at the book and said “that looks boring”. I told them that we would read just one chapter and if they were bored to tears with it then maybe we would read something else. We read the first chapter and by the time we were finished the same son was begging me to keep reading, and even asking if he could take it and read it by himself.

We’ve read the first three chapters now, a chapter every night, and they still seem to be pretty interested. Just last night, at the end of chapter three, they were still asking me to keep reading when we got done.
