Personally I cannot fathom that there is any debate whatsoever about such a gruesome act of violence. But on the other hand we are dealing with unregenerate man and “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9) I think that we often underestimate the sickness of the human heart.
Just think about it; each little life that is aborted is an image of God that is despised and literally thrown away in the trash. That is what the sinful world thinks about its Creator.
But brethren, why are we surprised? We the Church are the salt (a preservative) and light (a guide) to the unbelieving world. Maybe if they saw us actually want and desire children instead of trying to prevent them it would cause them to think twice about the life that they are throwing away.
Maybe if they saw us tangibly loving and desiring the image of God as it is found in the new life of little children, maybe then they would take our claim to love God more seriously.
If we Christians are busy trying to prevent more images of God, why would we expect the world to value them? What kind of light are we?
